Birdies for Charity is an amazing opportunity that has been promoted by The Thunderbirds to encourage charities to fundraise using the Waste Management Open as a way of soliciting sponsors. Special Olympics Arizona is one of over 100 charities that will be soliciting pledges for their organization during the next two months. One hundred percent of all monies collected for Birdies For Charity goes directly to the Charity that solicits the pledges. All of the administrative costs for Birdies For Charity are paid by the Thunderbirds.

How Do I Play Birdies For Charity?

Simply make a flat donation or pledge one cent or more for every birdie that will be made by the PGA Tour players, Thursday through Sunday at the 2025 Waste Management Phoenix Open. It's estimated that between 1,300 and 1,800 birdies will be made. Inclement weather may affect the total. If one or more of the days of the Waste Management Phoenix Open are canceled, the birdie count submitted for those days will be: Thurs: 500, Fri: 500, Sat: 300, and Sun: 300.

How Does SOAZ Benefit?

Special Olympics Arizona (SOAZ) has participated in this program since its inception in 2005. The Birdies For Charity program enables donors of Special Olympics Arizona to make a pledge to SOAZ through the Thunderbirds Charities Foundation. With over 20,000 athletes in the State of Arizona, this program enables our families and athletes to encourage other family members and friends to support the activities and programs of Special Olympics Arizona. As the longest Partner and Premier Sponsor of Special Olympics Arizona, The Thunderbirds have given us an amazing opportunity that can help us through these difficult economic times. What Is Bonus Bucks For SOAZ?

Special Olympics Arizona will receive a 10 percent BONUS on the total amount of pledges collected on their behalf during the 2024 Waste Management Open Birdies For Charity Program. It's as simple as it sounds. Example: if SOAZ collects $20,000 in pledges, SOAZ will receive an additional 10 percent of that, or $2000 for our programs courtesy of Thunderbirds Charities.
